The music of SESIONES DEL SUR has countless origins and no end. The organic sound of the seven-piece ensemble travels around the Atlantic like an echo. Caribbean folk meets Brazilian baiao. There is also a pinch of cumbia and a touch of Ethio-Jazz. This wave is carried by the powerful, versatile instrumentation with bass, accordion, strings, percussions, flute and a profound voice which combines the radiant melodies of Venezuela with complex Afro-Peruvian polyrhythms to create an unmistakable melange. The band's Spanish and Portuguese lyrics tell stories about the migration of people and music. They deal with experiences of nature and alienation. But only those who experience a SESIONES DEL SUR concert for themselves will experience the African heritage of their music, which echoes from the ocean's depths. A groovy echo that gives strength for dancing legs, ecstatic hips and plenty of encores.

Latin America: As wide as this continent is, as big are the different cultural influences! 

This documentary goes on a musical way to express this and make a contribution in Leipzig as part of the Latin American music scene. Recorded live between February and May 2021 in Ost-Passage-Theater, Salon der Villa Plagwitz and Gute-Laune Studio comes the three-part concert portrait series of the ensemble "Sesiones del Sur".
